![]() Agrium’s Redwater facility is the largest fertilizer production site in North America. The Agrium site produces 680,000 tonnes of ammonium phosphate and 1.4 million tonnes of nitrate based phosphates every year. The site employs 400 people and spans over 372 hectares along the North Saskatchewan River. Presently, a 95 foot stack of gypsum exists at Agrium’s Redwater site. Gypsum is a by-product of the phosphate fertilizer process. The final elevation of the gypsum stack will grow to 150 feet, covering 720 acres and allowing 20 additional years of production. Agrium is actively investigating alternatives for using gypsum in a beneficial manner. |
